Malttamattomat is an exhibition that calls attention to experience and interaction. It is a collection of works that have been inspired by the island state of Malta. The work examines our relationship towards shared space, the dynamic between the locals and tourists visiting the island. The temporal nature of one’s visit yearning a spectacle is counterbalanced by the time slowly disappearing into the mundanity of the work required by hospitality.

These two orientations towards a space form opposite ways to structure a meaningful moment. From this division the artworks find their form.

The colours used in the artworks are inspired by two earth pigments used decoratively for thousands of years, the ochre reds and yellows of iron oxide.

Red’s connection to earth and blood, a symbol of the dualism of life and death. It takes as its backdrop the yellow, associated with heaven and light, which is seen as the substance of the eternal.
