Where do I go from here? is an exhibition of performances for camera, documentation and objects made by artist Diana Soria Hernandez during 12 years of living in Finland. The selection of works made between 2011 and 2022 belong mainly to her ongoing performance series Seasonal Hobbies and Print-Making, which can be seen as a way of processing and appropriating one’s place in/out of context, changing and resisting to integrate, and at times camouflaging to adapt.
The performances have taken place for example in an old forest in Hyrynsalmi surrounded by mosquitoes, in a bridge in Jatkasaari as the sun sets, or in the huge gallery space of Merikaapelihalli leaving a 10 meters long trace.
Diana Soria Hernandez (Mexico 1983) is a visual and performance artist based in Finland since 2011. Her art practice is based on the exploration of physical and corporeal language, mainly through performance art, ceramics and drawing.
She studied her BA in Fine Arts at ENPEG La Esmeralda in Mexico City, an MFA in Printmaking by the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and an MA in Live Art and Performance Studies at the Theatre Academy Helsinki, both belonging to the University of the Arts, Helsinki.
Her work has been shown internationally in exhibitions and festivals in more than 15 countries in America, Europe and Asia. She has received several artist distinctions, such as Kone Foundation, Finnish Cultural Foundation, an international residency at La Chambre blanche by CALQ and FONCA (2020), among others.
