It was all fun and games…
11.5.-4.6.2023
The exhibition titled It was all fun and games… presents a selection of artworks from a body of work which is informed by Chydenius ongoing research of (un)safety, togetherness and a sense of belonging in the night and urban nightclub culture. The exhibition comprises of a video game demo as a conceptual artwork, as well as photographs which played a central part of the visual and architectural building of the video game demo.
The video game demo piece titled Clubs of Night (2021) invites visitors to play as four separate characters who are all out in the night for different reasons. Each character intervenes in different situations, while sharing the same aim of the game; to get home safe from the club.
The photographs are from the ongoing series of video- and photography titled Liminal locations (2018 – present). The photographs capture details in the clubs, and highlight the contrasts of light and darkness, while celebrating strong club colours.
