Huorafobia (Slutphobia) is a three-part solo performed in display windows by pole dancer Noora Juppi. The piece is inspired by forbidden poses, by good girl / bad girl dichotomies and by roles and being liberated from them. Huorafobia is a personal attempt by its creator to reprogram the assumptions of both the performer and the society about movement, pole dancing and stigma. The solos take inspiration from the roles that society gives to woven: slut, victim and Madonna, but instead of duplicating the established roles it seeks to challenge them with alternatives. How are contemporary and future female portrayals? Do we need such?

Juppi is a circus artist, who has worked with pole dancing for over ten years. Besides Chinese pole, the roots of pole dancing are in striptease, but as the discipline has become more mainstream, the part of sex workers in its history has been suppressed. In Finland this lead to emphasizing sportiness and minimizing sexiness. Huorafobia is a tribute to the stripper pioneers of pole dancing. It also is a strong and original study of pole dancing, sexuality and feminity.
