supersede verb

  1. to displace in favor of another
  2. to replace something, especially something older or more old-fashioned

SUPERSEDER – An environment is an immersive sound installation featuring eighteen synthesizers that create an artificial nature soundscape. The synthesizers mimic the chirps, twitters and gurgles of animals and natural elements. The electronically generated soundscape is organic and endlessly evolving, presenting a surface that appears alive while remaining inherently lifeless.

What are we building, what are we superseding?

Ville Aalto is a sound artist whose works blend organic and synthetic realities. He creates artificial sounds of nature using synthesizers and merges them with electronic sound textures to produce abstract, lifeless soundscapes that resemble the natural world. www.villeaalto.com
