Xosphere is an ambient event curated by Moe Mustafa in collaboration with PUBLICS. The live event with Matti Raita, Ava Imogen & Atheer Soot invites visitors to detach from the the rapid pace of the urban present and indulge in the floating world of Xosphere. On Friday 5th of Nov, join us on a journey of atmospheric and meditative sound that let you escape your worries and put your mind on ease. You can bring your yoga mat or a sleeping bag for the ultimate relaxation.

Matti Raita is an actor and musician based in Helsinki Finland. His work has taken him around Europe and all over Finland. He has composed music for TV, radio and theatre. Since 2019 he has been co-producer of Ambient Arkipelag, an annual concert series that takes place in the Finnish archipelago. Matti describes his music as melancholic and romantic.

Ava Imogen Grayson (they/them) is a Canadian-born sound artist and pedagogue based in Helsinki. Their work as a trained composer and sound experimenter focusses on creating experiences of connection and interconnection with that which may be considered ‘other’ (human and non-human). As a pedagogue, their events and workshops invite members of various local communities to learn about various embodied sonic practices. Their performances are often dependent on collected field recordings and compositional layering to convey emotions centered on ecological grief and anxiety. Other current work focusses on using deep mapping processes to share the narratives of those within the immigrant trans and nonbinary community of Helsinki.

Atheer Soot (أثير صوت) is a Helsinki-based visual artist and theatre-maker. Moe Mustafa was born in Kuwait to Palestinian parents, moved to Amman-Jordan after the Gulf War. Alongside art and theatre, he has been honing his skills in sound design and composing for the past several years. Atheer Soot, an Arabic phrase, means a sound that resonates in the void. The project focuses on creating an interconnection between memories and sound, where Moe goes back in time to explore the past, his childhood. And translate these memories into an atmospheric and drone sound. Moe sees the process of sculpting the sound as a therapy, where you open up to your devices and instruments and dive deep into the subconscious and let the mind and intuition wander around.
