Lauteilla – A LARP about social media is a piece facilitated by Susi Nousiainen and Jonne Arjoranta happening online and at Eskus – Performing Arts Centre.

Finland 2025. A group of diverse people have been invited to discuss the climate crisis, ensuring that everyone’s voice will be heard. The discussion happens on a social media platform. It is managed by a consulting duo who call themselves “The Lauteilla Team”. According to them, the sauna (and it’s bench, lauteet) is the symbol of deep communication in Finnish culture.

Each of the participants of the larp gets a character for attending this “discussion of everyone living in Finland” on the digital platform. During the game the themes of creating contact and confrontation arise through experiencing with the character. Besides playing on the digital platform, the larp includes start- and end- meetings on site.

Participating happens partly live on-site in the starting and ending meetings (in total 5h), and mostly remotely online in between the live meetings. While playing remotely, your character can browse social media every now and then, based on your own schedules. You need your own device (mobile phone or computer) and an internet connection to play.

The language of the piece is English. The LARP has been designed in the Vastapuhe-project, funded by the Kone Foundation.
