Jumpscare Catharsis is a cross-disciplinary installation by Dara Riikonen, Paula Unelma, Miska ‘dört’ Jounila, Kristian Miettinen and Helmi Nieminen. Together the artists have explored the morbid fascination with horror, the relationship between entertainment and violence, and the need for excitement, stimulation, and thrills. At the same time, they reflect on human insignificance and the need for security in the face of fear or the great unknown.
