A warm welcome to ‘Clothes mean stains’, a food-staining-on-clothes extravaganz.a

With Eeva Rönkä, Eve Hamari, Jani Anders Purhonen, Kasia Zofia Gorniak and Saija Kangasniemi.

The 2-day event takes a prompt from a workshop series that took place in 2024. Participants discussed stains and other marks of wear as being an unexpected source of meaningfulness in clothes.

In response, a menu of dishes especially effective at staining clothes has been created. Guests will be given clothes to wear on top of their own, to collect all the drips and spills. Alongside questioning conventions of newness and cleanliness in clothes, the work is a playful and collective exercise in bio-based fabric mark-making.

On Friday, there is a free-of-charge set menu. Spaces are limited so please reserve a spot by e-mailing koekeittiohelsinki@gmail.com (max 2 guests per reservation)

On Saturday it’s more cafe-style. Everyone can pop in and order a la carte, with a small charge.

The full menu will be shared before the event.

The event is part of Kasia Zofia Gorniak’s doctoral research, which looks into how shared experiences between people can create meaningfulness in clothes.
