Colour acts as a filter between perception and the surrounding world. It creates meaning, evokes associations, and signals danger. Through culturally embedded meanings, colours shape the way we see and engage out other senses, while symbolising multiple truths.

The exhibition brings together Turpeinen’s and Savolainen’s explorations of colour, proposing connections, meanings, and stories.

At the core of Siiri Turpeinen’s practice are encounters between humans, other species, and the environment. The connection between the body and nature from queer perspectives, together with examinations of societal injustice, creates spaces where vulnerability is not only allowed but also meaningful. Colour works as the start and end for every connection.

Paula Savolainen works mainly around painting, drawing, and writing, mixing themes of everyday life and fantasy-like situations and creatures. A big inspiration for their work is stories, both in text form and in spoken language. A lot of the characters in their paintings are meant to be sensitive beings that just go through different kinds of things, like we all do.
