How do memories, dreams, places and experiences turn into works of art? How do time, material and gaze construct meanings?

In the 2026 BFA Exhibition, 26 graduating bachelor’s students in fine arts reflect on the world inspired by the tensions of their personal experiences and imagination, history and the here and now, presence and absence. The works deal with memories and memory traces, changing landscapes and inner worlds, everyday objects and fundamental questions. They convey vulnerability, humour and irony but also experiences of movement, transition and change.

The multilayered exhibition is made up of various materials, images, sounds, spaces and processes. The works invite the visitor to look up close and from afar, to pause, to wander and wonder and to find meanings that do not always settle into place. The featured artists have channelled their daydreams, utopias and imaginations of the future into art of various styles and mediums. Their outlook on the world is simultaneously clear, inquisitive and profound, and for that very reason moving. The exhibition provides perspectives not only on what is, but also on what could be.

The 2026 BFA Exhibition will take over the first floor of Mylly, the main building of the Academy of Fine Arts.
