Asbestos Art Space

ä ä n i ä ä n i ä ä ä n i ä ä is a fluid and multidimensional event situation evolving around the sonic and including discussions, performances, and other kinds of spatial gestures. It strives to create a collective, interactive, creative, and discursive space inside which to approach ways of working in relation to the gallery context, the city space, and sound, both alone and together. The event situation approaches sound especially through the viewpoints of field-recording, radio, performance, and space. ä ä n i ä ä n i ä ä ä n i ä ä is for anybody interested in working with sound and taking part doesn’t require any pre-knowledge about working with sound. The event is a continuation to the [of sound] sonic arts exhibition organised at the Oksasenkatu 11 gallery in 2023 and it is organised by Minerva Juolahti, J.Koho, and Sulo Kolehmainen.

Co-listener is a one-to-one listening piece set in Kruununhaka. During the piece, we move, stay still, and perform various guided presence, listening, perception, and sensing exercises.

* Departure and return point: Asbestos Art Space (Kristianinkatu 16, 00170 Helsinki)

* Duration: Subject to agreement. Up to 60 min.

* Length: 0.5–2 km

* Please note that the route is not accessible. Minors may participate in the work only

if accompanied by an adult.

Interested in making a radio show? Join us for a discussion and brainstorming event open to everyone regarding the making of a radio programme. äänes is a monthly factual and current affairs programme focusing on sound art, experimental music and contemporary music, and it started operating on IDA Radio in spring 2024. The aim of the programme is to present the above-mentioned topics in a diverse and polyphonic manner and to provide a platform for different radio creators and ways of doing things. The purpose of this free-form discussion and brainstorming event is to bring together people interested in radio and its making. At the beginning of the event, the äänes programme and its concept will be briefly presented, followed by free discussion around the topic.
