AAVISTUS FESTIVAL 2022

The second Aavistus Festival in its history will take place in Helsinki from 6th to 9th October. During the festival, you can experience audiovisual installations, participate in workshops and listen to interesting discussions at the City Museum!
Aavistus is a biennial of audiovisual art and VJ culture. The festival hosts a lineup of local and international VJ performances, audiovisual live performances, projection mapping, workshops, an exhibition of installed works and more.
In the fourth floor of the Helsinki City Museum, the festival exhibits installations by the following artists: Renzo van Steenbergen, Kristjan Pütsep, Arvid van der Rijt Łukasz Horbów, Stump of Prometheus, Hannu Karjalainen and Sini Henttu, Nori Kin and Reetta Nummi.
The exhibition is open on Friday 7 October from 11am to 7pm, Saturday 8 October from 11am to 12am and Sunday 9 October from 11am to 5pm.

Antti Polojärvi & Tuomas Ahva: Accidental Response – Abstract animation with 16 mm projector
Antti Polojärvi creates abstract animations using old 16 mm projectors and transparent filmstrip. In the workshop, the techniques used to make animations are presented, and at the end, the participants get to create their own animation, which is recorded on video.
The workshop is held in both Finnish and English. Children are welcome.

Olli- NIemi Pynttäri:Basics of VJ information technology
The lecture will cover the technology side of the VJ hobby, from the point of the necessary equipment and programs. In addition, some methods of content production are introduced. In the lecture we also talk about gigging and sound reactivity of visuals.

Random Doctors’ Rajatonvimma presents the basics of the leading VJ program, Resolume.

Artturi Elovirra’s video installation using projection mapping technology can be seen on Saturday evening 8th October on the facade of the Helsinki City Museum’s courtyard.
