Palestine has become the most dangerous place on earth for journalists.

Since October 7, 2023, more than 200 Palestinian journalists and media workers have been killed in the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. The situation for Palestinian journalists in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the wider region is also dire. They face threats, intimidation, work restrictions, arrests, and even direct targeting and killings by Israeli colonial forces. Despite these dangers, they continue their work with remarkable courage, driven by a deep sense of duty.

Palestinian photographers from the Activestills photo collective will share their experiences of working under such extreme conditions. If technical circumstances allow, there will also be an opportunity to speak via video conference with collective members currently working in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the event will address the importance of international solidarity with Palestinian journalists and explore how support can be extended from abroad.

This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from Palestinian journalists—voices that are often silenced or marginalized in mainstream media. Join the conversation at Museum of Impossible Forms on Sunday, May 11th from 17:00-19:00 hrs.

Activestills has currently an exhibition at the Finnish Museum of Photography produced with the support of The Finnish Heritage Agency and the Patricia Seppälä Foundation. The programming is organized in collaboration with Sumud – The Finnish Palestine network.
