Wallflower Blush explores the meanings of perception, imagination, seeing and being seen. The painting objects standing in the space are like facades that have quietly absorbed the life of the world around them, waiting for someone to pause beside them and hear their story. These walls hold joy, kindness and friendship, yet at the same time, beneath all their pinkness, they conceal sorrow, uncertainty and loss.

In the exhibition, observations and memories linked to architecture and constructions merge with imagined realities, forming their own views. Through color, form and rhythm, perceptions unfold and are reconstructed in the exhibition space as an abstract painting installation. The structures present themselves as complementary elements, inviting one to move around the paintings, to examine them from different perspectives, to build a relationship with the paintings through presence and to reflect on the role of their own body in the process of perception.

A core element in Anna Jaatinen’s work is a sense of curiosity. Nothing is predetermined or fixed, and what matters most is being open to the surprises that painting offers.

Anna Jaatinen (b. 1983) explores experiences of perception and recognition, the relationship between space and painting, and the essence and possibilities of the artistic process itself. In her painting installations, she examines encounters, coincidences, friendship, and landscapes through touch and presence. Jaatinen graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts in 2024. She has previously studied ceramics and textile art at Aalto University and also has a textile artisan’s qualification.
