Welcome to a conversation with choreographer Camilla Stage (DK), who will share insights into her work and thought process behind the project The Ageing Body.
How can the physical, psychological, energetic, and spiritual transformations that accompany ageing be made visible? If preconceived notions of aesthetics and rigid body ideals are set aside, what new forms of expression become possible through dance and choreography?
Camilla Stage’s residency is dedicated to exploring bodily movement and the questions surrounding the ageing body—its role as an embodiment of integrity and autonomy, as our physical presence in the world. At the same time, the residency also reflects on the stigma attached to ageing and how older bodies are often marginalised or hidden in society.
Camilla Stage’s work spans multiple countries and includes 30 staged or produced works, 13 of which have been full-length performances. Throughout her diverse career, she has collaborated with artists across various disciplines, building an extensive network while using dance as both a means of expression and a form of poetic engagement in social debate.

The conversation will take place on 9 April, from 16:00 to 17:00, at the Nordic Library, Kaisaniemenkatu 9, Helsinki.
