“ Sulaminen (Melting) explores the effect of war trauma on both me and society, as well as how war trauma is passed genetically and socially from one generation to the next.
I’m now the third-generation post war, but the first in my family ready to process the trauma it has caused. Collective trauma is still present daily in my family. Instead of being a shared grief borne together, it keeps us distant from one another.
Sulaminen is a suggested rite for dismantling war trauma in a society that has not created any substitutes for now-lost shared approaches to unravelling grief.”
The performance is part of the Generation 2026 exhibition.
