AT TENDING is a tender performance for and with Mustikkamaa island. It’s a piece interested in blurring and moving the boundaries between workshop and performance, between witnessing and being witnessed, between us and them.
AT TENDING is an invitation to attend a place and a performance with one’s whole body. It’s an invitation to arrive, to tend, to be there, to be here, situated.
It is a workshop for asking and practising how to be, witness and dance with a place, and how to place one’s agency amongst the multiple agencies of different species, weathers and humans who have arrived there through different routes.
AT TENDING thinks/dreams of performance as a possibility to gather together, to share time and to build embodied relationships with Mustikkamaa.
The piece welcomes different modes of attending. To attend and to witness can happen through a variety of distances, rhythms, paces, positions, movements and stillnesses
In the seam between spring and summer, the four-part piece watches, touches, smells and listens and also asks you/us/me to watch, touch, smell and listen back – to tend and be tended, to attend and be attended.
