Flores Pol-Edouard (FRA)
Fuse Burn takes you inside a psychiatric hospital in a dystopian world, the year 2084.
Pol-Edouard unravels a vision shaped by cinema, video games, and the raw imprint of his own hospitalizations. A blend of fiction and memory, distorted yet visceral.
Psychiatry is a locked door, wrapped in taboo, steeped in unspoken tragedies. Dialogue is rare. So the artist kicks it open—delivering a shock, a rupture, a fracture in silence.
“I was locked up. I was restrained. I was injected. Why should I hide it, why should I feel shame, when others will go through the same to heal?”
Through this vision, Fuse Burn forces a reckoning : on our biases toward patients and caregivers, on the state of psychiatry in France and beyond. But also, on ourselves. At least 50% of people will experience a mental disorder at some point in their lives.
If you were forcibly taken to a psychiatric unit after a psychotic episode, what images would flood your mind first?
