Settle Down – Somatic workshop
We begin the day by attuning to the present moment through somatic exercises guided by Anni Kronqvist. Somatic movement practice creates a ground where emerging sensations, feelings and intuitions can be sensed safely and naturally as they seek their way of settling in the body.
Through embodied perception, movement and touch, we orient ourselves to the present moment. At the same time, we create space for inner experience, allowing images and thoughts to arise in their own way.
The exercises require no prior knowledge or experience. The workshop is open to the first 15 participants who register. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Anni Kronqvist is a dance artist (MA), somatic movement educator and therapist, and the founder of the Virgiinia space. The core of her work focuses on embodiment, somatic transformation and presence.
Dreaming workshop: Working with f(r)ictions – towards decolonial and speculative practices
How can we dream within existing structures while simultaneously imagining beyond them?
In this workshop, participants are invited to engage with both frictions and fictions as tools for collective dreaming through a decolonial and speculative lense. In times of multiple crises, the simple act of gathering around shared needs and dreams can awaken a sense of agency and community. Together we will ask: What could the Finnish art field look like if things were to get better? What kinds of actions could move us in that direction within a week, three months, or a year?
Through conversation, speculative thinking, and collective reflection, the workshop opens space for imagining possible futures while acknowledging the multiple crises, barriers and constraints of the present.
Sonya Lindfors (she/her) is a Cameroonian-Finnish award-winning choreographer, facilitator, and the artistic director of UrbanApa. For the past decade, her work has engaged with decolonial and feminist practices. In her work she explores how a performance, a festival, or an organization can work as a site of empowerment and collective dreaming.
