Flies and Honey explores the political and poetic potential of textiles by merging personal symbolism, ritual, and craftsmanship. At its centre stands the sweatshirt – an everyday, unisex, mass-produced garment – reclaimed and transformed into sculptural works. Through reuse, heraldic motifs, masks, and modular constructions, the project investigates notions of identity, protection, and belonging.
Addressing ideas of value, community, and sustainability in an era of speed and consumption, the project unfolds as a multidisciplinary dialogue between textile art, photography, graphic form, and choreography. The result is a hybrid of ceremony, fashion, and sculpture – where textile becomes a language of intimacy and resistance.

Jenny Holmlund’s artistic practice emerges at the intersection of playfulness, patience, and authenticity. Her work is tactile and slow, grounded in reuse and material care. Despite its urban and contemporary expression, the practice is deeply rooted in craft, cultural heritage, and intuition.
Holmlund approaches creation as a rhythmic form-building process, where patterns and shapes connect like a puzzle or a family tree – each fragment carrying traces of what came before. Precision meets the handmade; the unfinished becomes refined; the reverse side is as vital as the front.
Jenny Holmlund studied at the Nordic Art School in Kokkola and at HDK-Valand – Academy of Art and Design in Gothenburg, Sweden. Since 2023, she has been based in Helsinki.
