Welcome to celebrate the new artist publication by Olli Aarni and Maarit Bau Mustonen on Tuesday 18.6. at 17-19 at Multipöly. The artists will talk about their work and the publication will be available for purchase at a friend price.

girdėjau daug tokių / Olen kuullut monia tällaisia asioita (2024) is a bilingual site-specific artist’s publication in Lithuanian and Finnish. It consists of sounds recorded in Lithuania and transformed into a printed form. The work traces and records the experience of exploring a new place and language through sounds.
The sensitive, absurd, and fragmented text of the publication is composed of language collected from a poetry club and a quiz, translated in real time from Lithuanian into Finnish using the listening function of the Google Translator mobile app. The translator has at least partially misinterpreted what it has heard.
The publication contains field recordings made in Švenčionėliai. These sounds have been transmitted through speakers to the cover images of books removed from the local library’s collection while scanning them. The images have been vibrated by sounds such as the Žeimena river, a freight wagon on a windy day, and the low hum of the malt factory at night.

The publication consists of a large folding paper sheet, a loose cover and an obi strip, with graphic design by @tyttihalonen.

The Autumn School Papers

We are happy to share the Papers from Multipöly’s first Autumn School of Publishing. Join us on Tuesday, 18 June, from 5 to 7 PM at Multipöly to celebrate the release along with Olli Aarni & Maarit Bau Mustonen’s new artist’s publication girdėjau daug tokių / Olen kuullut monia tällaisia asioita.

Multipöly’s Autumn School of Publishing 2023 took place at @studiokukkapuro in Kauniainen on the weekend of October 28–29. The School served as a meeting place for practitioners in the fields of text and art, graphic design, activism, and research interested in self-organised publishing. The theme of the Autumn School 2023 was Publishing and Collaboration.

Multipöly’s Autumn and Spring Schools of Publishing open up perspectives on publishing as a self-organised activity through a specific theme, by way of discussions, proposals, making, and spending time together. The Schools create a starting point for publications, Papers, that document and expand the knowledge, experience, and space developed together in the school and share it with a wider audience.

The Autumn School Papers 2023 brings together texts by @cherniauskaite, @milja_koo, @sofiamejia, @r.oittinen, @olliaarni & @ma.a.r.i.t, @francesca.bogama, and @paolajalili, illustrations by @evitarleena, materials shared by @spicycarrrot and @reshuffler during the School, alongside questions and notes from the weekend.

The Autumn School Papers 2023 will be available as a free downloadable and printable file on the Multipöly website (www.multipoly.fi). You can also print the publication or purchase a pre-printed copy at the launch party on Tuesday, June 18.
