Join us for a combined event of artistic discussion, workshop, and showcase with Ida Skibsted Cramer (DK) and Olivia McIntyre (NO) at our Residency B28 in Suomenlinna! Entry is free, and refreshments will be served.

During the artist talk, Ida and Olivia will read from their project Dagens måner (Moons of the Day) – a project that, through the artistic method of translation, explores themes such as friendship, understanding, language, time, and landscape.

During the writing process, the two artists will write through each other’s language by translating each other’s text as they go. They will also work with the island they are visiting, seeing Suomenlinna as a space for storytelling that transcends languages and species. A space where it might be possible to connect to a way of being, where language, and the diversity of language, is so widely present that it might all become a third language structure to work from, another way of meeting each other and the place they will inhabit for a short time.

After the reading, which will be held in Norwegian and Danish, there will be a short discussion in English between the two artists as they discuss their process so far.

The day will conclude with an Open Studio workshop, where the audience is invited to participate in some writing and translation exercises that reflect their artistic process so far. This will be tailored to the participants’ own language(s).
