Fri 9 February, from 7 pm
Entrance: 8–15 €
Kulttuuritila-Merirasti, Jaluspolku 3, Helsinki (4-min walk from Rastila metro station)

Art space Outo Olo takes the metro to the east and organizes a performance evening in the former chapel of Meri-Rastila. Art collective MSHR and musical artists Islaja and Elatu Nessa will perform at Kultturitila Merirasti.

Formed by US based Brenna Murphy and Birch Cooper, MSHRbuilds and explores electronic systems that take the form of audiovisual compositions, performances and installations. On their European tour, MSHR performs with a new work titled Mesh Manifold, where they interact with an unruly sound and light feedback system consisting of sculptural devices which utilize self-made circuits and various programming languages.

Islaja, also known as Merja Kokkonen, has explored musical landscapes from do-it-yourself-psychedelic forest folk to more electronic and danceable music. With her new album Angel Tape, released last year, Islaja is returning to the backlands of the mind and channels the song of angels.

Artist Rusto Myllylahti’s musical carrier Elatu Nessa is a birdsong in a dirty bush. It’s dumpster-dived blues, homemade loops, psychedelic guitars, imagined computers and dishwashing naps.

The event is organized by Outo Olo, an art space from Helsinki’s Vaasankatu. Merirasti is a cultural venue which has since autumn 2023 been operating in a former chapel next to Meri-Rastila’s market square.
