The exhibition Riddle by Sami Jalonen and Eero Kalervo brings together a selection of the artists’ recent small to mid-scale paintings. In both of their practices, what is essential is to rediscover painting – or their relationship to it – anew with each work. Along this endless journey, the works emerge as points of rest shaped by the interplay of lived experience, an open mind, and the materials themselves.

Poet Maria Matinmikko has written a text for the exhibition titled On Painting.

Sami Jalonen (b. 1993) lives and works in Helsinki. He graduated from Turku Arts Academy (BA) in spring 2025 major in painting. He has held multiple solo exhibitions and has taken part in numerous group exhibitions.

Eero Kalervo (b. 1998) is a Helsinki-based artist. He is currently completing his MFA studies in The Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. Prior to this, he graduated as a painter from the Free Art School.
