The lines on wet paper carry echoes from the forest. The echoes merge into streams full of undersea memories. A gentle touch of my finger leaves a trace of this moment.

This poetic opening section leads you into the key themes of the exhibition: the interaction between humans and nature and the memory hidden within materials.

Searenity – Interpretations invites you to explore the relationship between humans and undersea ecosystems. The exhibition features works created from algae-based biomaterials, along with experiments still taking shape.

In my work, I examine the potential of art to act as an ecological and ethical engine of change. I focus on continuous experimentation, reworking and in-depth exploration of materials. My works are studies of processes in which I build a dialogue between materials, the memories hidden within them and ecological issues. I look for ways to reduce the environmental impact of my work and to emphasize the importance of nature’s cycles.

The exhibition has been supported by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. I would like to thank the Saastamoinen Foundation and the Cove Park and Scottish Sculpture Workshop (SSW) residencies for the opportunity to focus on my artistic research.
