SLURPS SEMINAR takes over Demos Helsinki’s office for a 2-day creative seminar from November 21st–22nd. Presenting a wide range of performances and panel discussions, the seminar’s program is a mosaic born from proposals selected through a recent open call and works presented by invited artists.
Across the weekend, conversations return to a few shared questions: how artists’ own voices can be supported and strengthened, what kind of tools curating and producing with an individual voice call for, and how small art actors can build their own audiences and reception.
With the seminar, SLURPS wants to activate open discussion about the structures and challenges present within the art field, all while meeting us in poetic thinking and the collective imagination.

SLURPS Seminar is an independent programme curated and produced by SLURPS, an artist-driven contemporary art collective that improves the accessibility of art and highlights marginalized groups. At the heart of SLURPS is the awakening of new, unexpected forms of collaboration and seeking ways in which art-making can be based on collegiality, solidarity, and the sharing of resources and capabilities rather than competition.
