The Night of Science: Small sceneries – microscopy workshop
with Katri Naukkarinen
9 January 2025 at 17:00-20:00
Panimokatu 1 (3rd floor), 00580 Helsinki

What creatures inhabit our homes, offices and parks unbeknownst to us? What does street dust look like? Who resides in the waters of Kalasatama?

Bioart Society organizes a microscopy workshop in which participants get to try out microscopy and examine closer some everyday objects and samples collected from the vicinity of Bioart Society’s office in Kalasatama. Participants are encouraged to bring along their own samples. There is also a possibility to print our photos of the views observed through microscopes.

During the evening, participants can come and go as they please. There will be a short presentation about art and science collaborations every even hour. People of all ages are welcome to participate. Artist Katri Naukkarinen will be hosting the workshop together with Bioart Society staff members.

Accessibility

9 stairs lead to the building’s front lobby. There is also a ramp next to the building through which you can access the front door. The front door is heavy and has two 2 cm thresholds. From the front lobby, you can take an elevator directly to the SOLU Space (3rd floor).

Unfortunately the wheelchair accessible toilet is currently out of use. There’s another toilet one cannot fit in with a wheelchair. The bathroom has a 2 cm treshold on the door.
The space does not have an induction loop.
