Turning point, metamorphosis, change, merging, alteration.

The exhibition suggests that the world is not stable but is in a constant state of change. This applies also to human-made systems and ways of thinking, as new things constantly emerge in response to what already exists. Thoughts and concepts are questioned, criticized, developed, ignored, or they fall into oblivion.

However, change is not always easy, nor does it happen on its own. Change can involve crises or pain. The process of change can originate from an external factor or from an individual’s inner growth. Even if the outcome of a process is difficult to predict or anticipate, the process and its potential outcomes can be opened up and processed through art.

Attitudes, norms, and values guide human activity. Therefore, transition points in structures and systems are strongly related to these. Change is possible when we dare to face something new and different. In the context of this exhibition change is examined through nature, climate change, politics and social structures, the history and future of humanity, and transformation.

The artists are Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo, Anna Estarriola, Corinna Helenelund, Linnea Mettälä, Pekka Pitkänen, Problem Collective, Mykola Ridnyi, Samra Šabanović & Sheung Yiu, Brynhildur Thorgeirsdottir and Ilkka Virtanen.
