The opening will host a performance act OUTO KIINTYMYS (odd affection) by IS09000. Last week of the exhibition will host an experimental noise performance produced by Vilja Joensuu, Sini Silveri and Ida-Sofia Tuomisto with sewing machines, microphones and electronics.

What’s wrong with you covers attempts to survive, cope and sustain, attempts to understand boundaries. Attempts, somewhat desperate, to see personal experience in context of repeating structures. It examines the internal dialogue that comes from between normative expectations and allowance of vulnerability. It attempts to find some empathy. It attempts to understand how damage to the basic sense of security generates safety-seeking and escapist behaviours and apocalyptic fantasies, and how maintaining any sense of safety seems impossible in a world riddled with hypercapitalism, resurgence of conservative right wing forces and the wars, destruction and suffering that ensue. Who do we serve by going on?

The body of work includes pieces made from autobiographical and subcultural textile matter. Clothes, household linen and every day items are used both as material and as forms of work. The back of the gallery is reconstructed as the artist’s bedroom, a space that is simultaneously a safe haven and the eye of a swamp. The installation consists of furniture and home items in use, transferred to the gallery space for the duration of the exhibition, along with artworks produced for the event and artworks by others.

A video documentation of noise performance Seuraus (Consequence) is presented as part of the exhibition. The piece was recorded and documented in Vastavirta, Tampere in May 2025 as a part of the upcoming Vastavirta document film. Seuraus dealt with the aftermath of #punkstoo, a campaign speaking out against sexual abuse and harrassment in the punk scene. During the performance an electric guitar was destroyed on stage as a symbolic and direct reaction to history attached to the object. A live recording tape of the event was released as part of fundraising for people convicted of defamation.

Joensuu is a self-taught artist based in Helsinki, working with textile and other materials. They process the positioning of personal experience over cultural and political contexts, and the frictions that follow. By using recycled household textiles and biographical materials they seek to blur the lines between private and public. A background in subcultures comes through in critical perspectives and experimental methods.
