Each painting is its own process, during which the vision of the possible outcome may change several times. Works are not sketched or planned in advance. A boundless, experimental and bold working method has become Ville-Pekka Vihma’s way of approaching the painting process. What matters is that the paintings have a balance between the planned and the unplanned, a clear form of expression, humor, and narrative elements.

Ville-Pekka Vihma’s New World exhibition is warm, colorful and adventurous. The endearing characters representing different emotions are the focal point of the paintings. They live in a different reality, where problems are tackled through humor, even if it makes one shed a few tears.

Ville-Pekka Vihma (b. 1994, Oulu) is a painter based in Kangasniemi. He graduated from Kankaanpää Art School in 2024. Vihma is also an active member of the Haihatus Art Center.
