HEL2 examines the relationship between rap culture, capitalism, and identity in today’s image-saturated world. The exhibition explores a reality where identities are shaped by the logic of social media.

Visibility, aesthetics, and algorithms guide choices, and our experience of reality is constantly filtered through images, references, and imitations.

“I explore my own relationship with rap culture and its visual language, as well as how these elements shift, transform, and become part of my everyday life and surroundings.”
The works carry post-ironic tones: a simultaneous sense of sincerity and distance, admiration and critique. The exhibition flirts with the phenomena it portrays but never fully submits to them. It mocks and celebrates at the same time.

The exhibition also addresses the accessibility of contemporary art. “I aim to bring subjects, aesthetics, and experiences into the gallery that have not traditionally belonged to the Finnish contemporary art scene.” #HEL2 suggests that art is not a closed space, but a field continuously shaped by culture – one that new voices and audiences can enter, and inevitably will.

HEL2 is a sequel to the exhibition Life In HEL, Vol. 1, presented at Galleria Kalleria in 2023.
