Aino Venna shares insights into the creation of Dreaming Bear, presented in EMMA’s Luova space, and explores the significance of the bear in Finnish folklore and folk beliefs.

Karhun uni is an audiovisual installation inspired by the bear’s winter hibernation and its symbolism as an ancestor and a metaphor for renewal. The work invites visitors to pause, follow the rhythm of breath and rest, and receive the wisdom of the bear ancestor. The installation explores the ancient Finnish bear origin myth as well as the connection between the nervous system and lived experience.

The work incorporates footage from Korkeasaari’s winter den camera from the winter of 2024.

Included in the museum admission fee (0–20 €).
