Merirasti Ensemble
Merirastila Music Sharing is a community-based music residency and performance that brings together musicians of diverse ages, cultural backgrounds, and experience to collaboratively create and perform folk music from the participant’s own traditions. Grounded in principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and peer learning, the project fosters intercultural dialogue and community engagement.
Concept, Project Coordination, Artistic Direction: Stephanie Kobori and Manuel Rosales
Artistic Collaboration: Livia Schweitzer
In collaboration with City of Helsinki – Vuotalo, Kulttuuritila Merirasti, Storysharing Universum, Sibelius Academy Foundation
Transcultural Ensemble
What happens when six musicians with different expertise and background meet, play and create together? The second-year Bachelor musicians of the Global Music Department invite you to an evening of original compositions and arrangements created specifically for this unique transcultural ensemble.
Each piece serves as a personal ecosystem, a “world” and musical idea by one where every other member is invited to inhabit the space, contributing with their specific knowledge and individual voice.
Welcome to hear beautiful and diverse works by the ensemble.
Teea Aarnio, voice and piano
Livia Schweizer, flutes
Lucas Makena, guitar and voice
