Come and party your way into a forest of huge textile sculptures and craft your own creations at art workshops! Friday’s warm-up is the perfect run-up to the culmination of Pride Week on Saturday.

Enjoy an Art Exhibition to Music

HAM and IDA Helsinki will be holding a party combining music, visual art, and spending time together. DJ sets will run throughout the day in one of the arched halls upstairs. Giant textile sculptures and music will meet in Magdalena Abakanowicz: Crossing Boundaries exhibition, featuring towering art all the way to the ceiling.

DJs Tomboy of Finland, DJ Suva, Joseysradios, Diiva.fm and Club Geeli will bring a unique atmosphere to the event. Surprising sounds, music from around the world, divas, and guaranteed dance music are all on the cards! The shows will also be streamed on live radio, so that the party can continue wherever you are.

Set Times:

11:00–12:30 Tomboy of Finland

12:30–14:00 DJ Suva

14:00–15:30 Joseysradios

15:30–17:00 Diiva.fm

17:00–18:40 Club Geeli

Pride Art Workshops

Over the course of the day participants can enjoy four different art workshops. With Artist Emmi Valve participants will be making pride flags from recycled fabrics. RoskaART, also known as Talvikki Ulvelin, will be leading a workshop making pride pins, where participants can showcase their own identity, message or support – in a small gesture that still takes a stand. At artist couple Saara and Eve Lakso’s Thread, glitter and sequins! art workshop, participants will have the chance to make fabric pieces in rainbow colours. The pieces will come together using embroidery and a collage technique.

Furthermore, Textile Designer Rosa Tolnov Clausen will be leading a communal Weaving Club in HAM’s art workshop space. The inspiration for the large-scale loom came from Magdalena Abakanowicz’s art, and the collaborative piece will develop throughout the duration of the exhibition.

The materials for all the art workshops will be provided and no advance knowledge is required. Come as you are!

Workshop Times:

12:00–14:00 Emmi Valve: pride flags from recycled fabrics

14:00–16:00 RoskaART: pride pins

16:00–18:00 Saara Lakso and Eve Lakso: embroidery and fabric collage

14:00–18:00 Rosa Tolnov Clausen: Weaving Club

Entry to the event is free of charge. The art workshops are also free of charge and no advance registration is required.
