In Heat from fire, fire from heat -exhibition in Lou, Ojala’s works will be experienced in an exhibition context for the first time.

Alsa Ojala is a Helsinki-based artist working with sound and text. She has performed in nightclubs, churches, libraries, cinemas, bars, art galleries and in front of a sauna.

Ojala’s sound work in Lou is composed of text and sound samples. The soulless material found in online music libraries is recycled and combined with speech, where the artist’s voice serves as a tool to explore different emotional states and ways of being. The fragmentary sound work and the objects accompanying it form an installation in which the active absence of the author of the sound and the meaning of the speech are present.

Ojala graduated from the Theatre Academy with a Master’s degree in Sound Design, studying creative writing.
