Ellos Riehpovuotna!
Action camp against a copper mine in Norwegian occupied Sápmi
A discussion in Lymy (Pengerkatu 6) on
Welcome to join a talk about a protest camp in Sápmi and to discuss about green colonialism and anarchist solidarity!
The event is organized by three Finns (settlers), who recently visited the Riehpovuotna protest camp in Sápmi (Repparfjord in Norwegian). The camp stands against a Norwegian Nussir ASA copper mine (backed by Canadian Blue Moon Metals and a US investment company Hartree) that expands to important reindeer calving areas and dumps its mining waste directly into the special salmon fjord, Riehpovuotna.
They’ll share their experience about the camp, what the protest is about and how it relates to the wider struggle against (green) colonialism. Afterwards we’ll discuss together how we could better actualize active solidarity to Sámi people, especially as Finns and anarchists.
The event will highlight voices and perspectives from active Sami people from the camp, who the event organizers had discussions with, about what the struggle means to them and what they wish from solidarity. Additionally in the discussion we want to reflect on the colonialism and solidarity of our own actions and analyse it from our own contexts.
