‘Here, There and In-Between’ is a collaborative project between Helsinki-based artist Pauliina Turakka-Purhonen and Kittilä artist couple Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Vali. The exhibition features both individual works and works made by three artists together.

Pauliina Turakka Purhonen graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2003. She is especially known for her detailed textile sculptures, which are hand-sewn and embroidered. The works often depict people in the immediate environment, such as friends or family members. The works also often have links to religious imagery. Turakka Purhonen’s works are in several important Finnish museum collections, such as HAM, EMMA and Kiasma.

The artist couple Misha del Val (Bilbao, Spain) and Raisa Raekallio (Kittilä, Finland) have been working together on paintings, drawings, performance works and curatorial projects since 2013. Their paintings speak for connection with nature and pluralism. In painting, it is rare for two artists to work together. Raekallio graduated from the Lahti Art Institute in 2002 and del Val graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 2003 and then completed master’s studies in Australia.

The exhibition has received a state grant from the Finnish Museum Agency for exhibition fees for visual artists.
