The “Haahuilua/haaveilua” work series describes the nervous, hopeful, uncertain, enamored and confused moments of modern urban life. The ink works are like diary entries, combining images and puns.
The series also explores the world of Pinterest boards and flawless social media posts. The photos reveal failed attempts to achieve these perfect moments: an Instagram-worthy coffee break is indeed a very lonely moment, and one’s insecurities cannot be covered with beautiful clothes.
A large part of the works has been realized in Tokyo in July 2024 during the art residency period, and they have been inspired by the streets, traffic gaps, fashion and cafes of the metropolis.
