MUU Media Base -sound workshop

A two-day basic course in recording and audio processing.
The workshop is implemented in collaboration with MUU ry, the South Karelian Artists’ Association and the Jewelry Association.

Tuesday 10.2.2026 at 12:00-17:00 and Wednesday 11.2.2026 at 12:00-17:00

Workshop leaders: Sirja Puurtinen and Tero Kontinen

Location: MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre, Kaapelitehdas, Tallberginkatu 1 C, 00180 Helsinki

On both days, the workshop will be implemented in two parts, with a short break in between. Coffee will be served.

Topics of the workshop on 10.2.2026:

-Key question: What is being recorded? Atmospheric, speech, instrumental, orchestral, experimental…
-Field recording: What is needed? What should you consider?
-Indoor/studio recording: What is needed? What should you consider?
-Introduction to Reaper and recording with Reaper (Reaper is also great for combining audio and video)

You can bring your own recorder and computer

Topics of the workshop on 11.2.2026:

-Audio processing with Reaper
-We will go through Reaper’s own tools
-Example of your own audio file -> what can be done with Reaper’s own tools
-Normalization, panning, audio levels, fade in fade out, other editing…
-Basic information about mixing and mastering
-Loudness on different publishing platforms.
-Youlean loudness meter
-Rendering
-Workshop-style through each person’s own sound samples

The workshop is intended for anyone interested in sound work. No previous experience is required.

The workshop will accommodate a maximum of 12 people. The participation fee for the two-day workshop is €15. Link to the registration form HERE. Register by Mon 2.2., participants will be notified by Tue 3.2.

Basics of video editing with DaVinci Resolve.
The workshop is implemented in collaboration with MUU ry, South Karelia Artists’ Association and Jewelry Art Association.

Thursday 12.2.2026 at 12.00-17.00

Workshop leaders: Hannu Kärenlampi and Tero Kontinen

Location: MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Center, Kaapelitehdas, Tallberginkatu 1 C, 00180 Helsinki

The workshop will be implemented in two parts, with a short break in between. Coffee will be served.

Workshop topics:
-Let’s go through the features and most important tools of DaVinci Resolve
-General and project-specific settings
-Cut video on the timeline
-Color correction, color adjustment.
-Adding texts
-Exporting video and related settings.

The workshop is intended for anyone interested in video work. No previous experience is required. The workshop will accommodate a maximum of 12 people. The workshop participation fee is €10. Link to the registration form HERE. Register by Mon. 2.2., participants will be notified by Tue. 3.2.
