Sahar Ajami, is a Helsinki-based visual artist and illustrator. Moved to Helsinki from Oslo 3 years ago.

Her practice includes visual art, illustration, graphic design, cartoons and picture books. Her projects range from editorial illustrations to award-winning cartoons. Sahara’s  work has been published in numerous books, magazines  and art catalogues.

In 2018, with the mission of creating a better world through art, she founded Beyond Art Oslo with five other women to organize workshops, art events and auctions supporting charities and causes.

“When I create illustrations, they are often self-driven, influenced by current events, politics, and the injustices that deeply affect me. My goal extends beyond storytelling; I aim to express my perspective and advocate for change. What I do when I can’t change anything ? I draw and I dream.”
Impactful illustration  highlights the importance of criticism and critical thinking, both in personal projects and in journalistic illustrations that engage with the social and cultural landscape.
