Welcome to a seminar on performing arts for the youngest audiences with Sara Myrberg, Päivi Aura, and Harriet Abrahamsson.

Sara Myrberg will open the seminar with examples from her master’s thesis, where she has explored the interaction between the performer and the very youngest audience.

Following the presentation, we’ll listen to a discussion between MyrbergPäivi Aura, and Harriet Abrahamsson on creative processes and artistry. Why is performing arts for very young children important? What themes should be portrayed, and how, in stories intended for the youngest audiences?

Myrberg is a Swedish freelance mime artist, director, and creator of several performances for the youngest audiences. Her latest play, Idag vet jag inte vem jag är (Today I Don’t Know Who I Am), explores the relationship between a memory-impaired grandmother and a child.

Päivi Aura is one of the founders of Dance Theatre Auraco, currently working on Embrace/Syli, a performance for babies premiering on 18 November at Annantalo.

Harriet Abrahamsson is an actor, playwright, and drama educator. She has written several plays for children, and her latest play, Gustavs stora känslor (Gustav’s Big Emotions), is for children aged 3 to 6.

The seminar takes place at Annantalo in central Helsinki and will be held in English.

The seminar is free of charge, but we kindly request that you register at info@assitej.fi.

The seminar is organised in collaboration with ASSITEJ Finland, Annantalo, and Nordic Culture Point.
