The Sonic Club listening sessions are a relaxed event where we are inviting DJs, music collectors, musicians, label owners and music lovers to share with us some of their collection – records, CDs, cassettes, digital music and, if they wish, give some background on the music that shaped and influenced them.

For this event, we’re very happy to host @theyalla.co Yalla Collective has been shaking up the Helsinki party scene for two years with their mix of dance friendly electronic music and SWANA sounds, as well as vibrant arab pop nights with dabke and other traditional music. The DJs of the collective are diverse in their connection to the culture, all united in pioneering celebrations of these mixed soundscapes. Each member reflects the rich musical tapestry of the region and its diaspora in their sets differently, by drawing inspiration from the musical fields of Damascus, Ramallah, Beirut and beyond.

About the Sonic Club:
