Océane Bruel, dylan ray arnold
15.3. – 27.4.2025

Warmly welcome to the opening on Friday, 14th of March, 2025 from 6 to 9 PM

“To live is to pass from one space to another while doing your very best not to bum yourself against the walls.” — Georges Perec

“There is something inside the body that wants to get out. You feel it when you stan between two mirrors.”— Anne Carson

Somewhere between these two quotes, their banality and necessity, lies a plane where the work of both Oce?ane and dylan dwell. For Swallowed Rooms they present sculptural and spatial works that combine lived environments with corporeal and mental spaces. The artists invent love and loss of personal and domestic attachments. A sort of psychic infrastructure of heat, liquid and gas. The constellation of their work could be the organization of life on a fridge door: magnets, notes, images, souvenirs and dreams. There are looping scenes of quotidian drama, shapes losing their form, as well as works that coil in themselves.

The title of the show suggests the metabolic nature of the artist’s practices – chewing, transforming and articulating materials, spaces and experiences. dylan and Oce?ane are interested in various everyday loops, systems, habits and addictions.

The show is a sequel of Water under the fridge – a duo show they did in 2024 at In extenso in Clermont-Ferrand, France with the writer and curator Katia Porro. Swallowed Rooms is the first time the artists present their individual practices alongside each other in Finland, having collaborated as Touristes Tristes -duo since 2016. The show will be accompanied by a text by Katia Porro.
