Parachorale is a new work by Teo Ala-Ruona and the working group, which continues Ala-Ruona’s series of works dealing with the paranormal potential and psychosomatic extremes of transcorporeality.

Being tattooed is enjoyable and painful. Perhaps, through a hole made in the skin, a sick body can be relieved for a while. We know something that reason cannot explain, it feels like the touch of a spider’s web on the skin.

Parachorale is about an inner experience of incompatibility. At its core is the desire to share the world under the skin and create a new kind of agreement about reality together with the audience at the moment of the performance. The performance challenges the othering gaze, through which transcorporeality is seen as exceptional in society. It asks how private experience is ultimately about, how many people truly feel at home in their own skins?

The performers weave a web with the audience, where the frames of the familiar reality are stripped and shaken off. Parachorale believes in our ability to reimagine ourselves and our communities and transcend the boundaries set by language. It invites you to feel and listen more closely and surrender to the absurd spectrum of physicality.
