The female urge to identify as a garden” is a post-garden installation in paper and textile that presents a metaphorical landscape. Deconstructing the garden as a traditional concept, the work reflects on the garden as a feminine space and as a place at the intersection of nature and culture. The garden has historically functioned as a place of female freedom and self-exploration and the many layers of the garden can still be used today as a tool for self-exploration and identification.

Jenni Österlund, living in Vaasa, is a fiber artist, dj and performance artist. Jenni is deeply committed to themes such as sustainability, the life cycle of materials, identity and belonging. In her art, she strives to find a place of coexistence with her surroundings. As an artist who has chosen to place herself in a small town context, she explores the possibilities and adversities of the artist in a limited public space. Her work has been exhibited not only nationally, but also internationally in Paris and Cagliari.
