For JP Köykä, the creation process of the works has been a decision to stick to abstract painting. The most important thing for the artist is painting and the endless possibility of new learning. The works in the exhibition do not aim to present anything. However, the shapes made with different materials and the rhythms of the paintings tell stories that the viewer can create himself.
JP Köykkä (b. 1987, Seinäjoki) is a painter living and working in Kyrönlahti. He graduated from Tampere University of Applied Arts’ Visual Arts Program in 2015. Köykä has works in the collections of the State Art Commission, the National Gallery and the collections of the Tampere Art Museum, among others.
