Maippi Ketola’s exhibition includes sideshow poster that she has painted herself as a model, and a documentary animation. In the animations, the artist does the same routines every morning for 54 days, and during that time she grew a real woman’s beard.

With her exhibition, Ketola wants to raise a flag for hairy women, for those who, out of shame, shave and hide their hair like she herself did before. Since then, Ketola has kept the beard and for this, a big thank you goes to all the passersby who treat her the same way they did before.

A larger exhibition of works by Maippi Ketola from the same series is shown at MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre at the Cable Factory from 26 to 29 June 2025.

The exhibition in MUU Window will continue until 10 August.
