Myymälä2 presents: Leftovers a Process Wall Exhibition by Alexandra Rosa Koskinen, from 06.06 – 22.06.2025.

Alexandra Koskinen (b.1999), is a Finnish/Peruvian artist and curator based in Helsinki. She graduated from the University of the Arts London (2021) with a Bachelor’s in Fine Art, Painting and completed her Masters at Aalto University in Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art Theory (2024).

As an artist, curator and researcher Koskinen floats between close fields of interest. While she experiments with video performances, glass sculpture and installation, her work is mostly based on oil painting and printmaking. Through her practice Koskinen seeks to use the distortion and surreal transformation of her subjects as a means to process the strangeness and absurdity of our collective experiences. Her work is embedded with themes of morality, memory, feminism and (cultural) identity. Koskinen always relies upon text-based work as a foundation for her images; pursuing the recollection, resurfacing and redesign of known narratives.

As the nature of The Process Wall suggests, Leftovers is a small exhibition showcasing the artist’s process, trial images and preliminary sketches. Displayed along the finished work, the exhibition seeks to pay homage to the significance of the creative process that many artists share, but rarely (like to) show. This exhibition seeks to convey growth, hints of intention and honour “happy mistakes”. Placing the spotlight on a type of artistic practice that would otherwise not find a place within the contemporary notion of an exhibition space.
