Echo, Echo, Echo (回声 回声 回声) is an evolving multi-channel sound and video project by visual artist and vocalist Tianjun Li that explores the primal and poetic power of the human voice to connect beyond language, culture, and ideology. In a time of deepening political division, censorship, and conflict, the project uses site-specific wordless vocal performances acorss time and space as an attempt to build shared resonance and emotional connection across fragmented worlds.

Over time, each vocal act builds upon the previous ones, creating a layered, polyphonic choir across time and geography. The work reflects on presence, listening, and the fragile potential of collective resonance in a fractured digital age.

From Arctic circles to Mediterranean islands, each performance is a site-specific vocal dialogue with its surrounding soundscape, recorded and shared simultaneously on both Western and Chinese social media platforms, bypassing digital firewalls and transforms controlled online spaces into channels of open listening, which have reached more than 20 million views across digital borders.

Tianjun Li
Tianjun Li (CN/FI), also known as Timjune, is a Finland-based visual artist, experimental vocalist, and musician. Li works with synesthesia and an exceptional four-octave vocal range to create imaginative sonic-visual landscapes where more-than-human beings emerge as metaphors for socio-ecological realities. Li holds a master’s degree in Visual Cultures, Curating, and Contemporary Art, with a minor in Sound in New Media, from Aalto University.

Li’s artistic work has been exhibited and performed internationally and has been supported by Espoo Artist Grant, Saastamoinen Foundation, Frame Contemporary Art Finland, Art & Tech Award by Aalto University and Genelec, and the Finnish- Danish Cultural Foundation, and they has been awarded residencies and fellowships, including Kone Foundation’s Saari Residence (FI), Nordic Culture Point’s B28 Residence (FI), SIM Residency (IS), and Espronceda Institute of Art and Culture (ES), E75 Art Bus project by MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre and European Capital of Culture Oulu.
